Shabbat at Temple Emeth:
Friday Evening and Saturday Morning Services

Each Shabbat, evening and morning, we gather together to mark the close of the week with services stirring in their beauty.

First Friday of Every Month - Shabbat Family Service at 7:30 pm.

Bring your children for a celebratory blessing on the month of the child's birthday. Temple membership not required to participate.

Second Friday of Every Month - Shabbat Service at 8:00 pm.

Third Friday Every Month - Musical Shabbat Service at 8:00 pm (except July and August).

The festive service includes the 8-member Temple Band and encourages congregant participation in singing, clapping and even dancing. On some Fridays, potluck dinners at 7:00 pm precede the service. Please contact Karen Sacks or the Temple office for more information.

Last Friday of Every Month - Shabbat Service at 8:00 pm.

Shabbat Morning Tot Shabbats and Bagel Breakfasts.

Tot Shabbat services start at 9:30 am and feature Shabbat songs and stories for children up to kindergarten age, followed by a bagel breakfast. Shabbat morning worship begins at 10:30 am throughout the year, preceded by Torah study at 9:10 am. Contact Temple Emeth for dates or see the calendar as the Tot Shabbat schedule is irregular.

Shabbat dinners and family oriented services

The festive nature of Shabbat is often expressed at Temple Emeth around the dinner table. At least once a year, religious school students from each grade and their families meet for a festive Shabbat dinner. These religious school dinners are followed by our Family Service on the first Friday of the month. In addition, approximately every other month, we have a pot luck dinner on the third Friday of the month at 7:00 p.m., prior to our Music Service

Family Shabbat services

Each month we hold a special Family Shabbat service on the first Friday of the month beginning at 7:30 p.m. At these services we use a special liturgy, designed for these services. Our Family Shabbat services include lots of singing, a story by our Rabbi, performances by our wonderful children's choir, Etz Chayim, and special Oneg Shabbat activities to engage our children.

These services are especially appropriate for those children in grades 2 to 4, though all are welcome. Baby-sitting is provided for children who are unable to sit throughout the entire service.
