Welcome from Our President

I am currently in my third year as Temple President. I truly enjoy working with the Board, Committees, and our Clergy in facing challenges, studying issues, and solving problems to help make Temple Emeth the great place that it is.

My wife, Gayle, and I have been members since 2011, a relatively short time compared to so many of our long-time dedicated congregants.

Speaking from my personal experience, when we first joined Temple Emeth, we were so pleased to have met so many congregants, who we now call friends, in such a short period of time. I have heard this from many members who have joined since.

I have encouraged our Board members to actively seek out new faces at services and events and warmly welcome them. To me, this is what synagogue life is all about – caring and connecting.

We pride ourselves on being a diverse group of members learning, praying, and working together to make the world a better place. Temple Emeth welcomes people of all backgrounds who come seeking fellowship and community, including Jews by birth, Jews by choice, interfaith partners or spouses, and those in the LGBTQ+ community. We celebrate the rich diversity of our community.

Our Clergy brings a love of prayer and song to our bimah, offering innovative, meaningful, and creative worship and learning experiences. As you will see under “Welcome/Our Clergy” we have been blessed to have Rabbi Sirbu as our spiritual leader since 2003. We welcome Cantor Dubinsky as our new Clergy partner this year and are honored that Cantor Tilem has been named our first Cantor Emerita.

We offer numerous and varied programs and social events throughout the year.

We are in the third year of our extremely successful Religious School Collaboration with Temple Sinai in Tenafly.

Please visit and see for yourself why we love Temple Emeth. Attend a Shabbat service, an Adult Ed class, or a social event; we would love to have you!  The calendar on our homepage lists all of our upcoming activities.

Please email me, or call the office at 201-833-1322 to leave a message for me, and if you have any questions. All the best. -- Michael Goldberg
