Caring Community

The purpose of the Paul S. Lazar Caring Committee at Temple Emeth is to create a stronger caring community by offering various forms of assistance to congregation members. We do this by mobilizing Temple volunteers to support one another. You can contact us when you need our services and to volunteer.

Caring Committee activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcoming new members
  • Assisting at a house of mourning
  • Visiting/calling congregants who are ill
  • Helping ill congregants with meals, company and support
  • Providing “Food for Friends” as requested
  • Lending medical equipment
  • Creating and delivering Remembrance Baskets to congregants who lost loved ones in the past year during the High Holiday period
  • Publicizing services for seniors

Need a ride to Temple services & events? The Paul S. Lazar Caring Committee has a fund to pay for Uber/Lyft rides to services and Temple events for members. Contact the Caring Committee at caring@emeth.org or call the Temple office at 201-833-1322 at least two days in advance if you would like us to arrange a ride for you.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out when you need help. Requests are kept confidential.

We invite all congregants to volunteer by joining the committee or helping with the many activities listed above. To volunteer, please complete a multicolored Caring Committee Volunteer card found in the Temple lobby. Put the completed cards in the box by the office or mail them to the Temple.

You don’t have to attend meetings or even volunteer multiple times a year. Just let us know which Mitzvah you are interested in doing. We will contact you when we need you. All volunteers are very much appreciated.

Please complete this form and email it to caring@emeth.org, or mail it to the Temple office: Attention Caring Committee.
